How we work at Trustlr
How do we work at Trustlr?
Trustlr was founded on the conviction that the involvement of a confidential counsellor can be more than just offering support after something has gone wrong.
Naturally, the work of a good confidential counsellor begins with listening. A person making a report must feel heard and taken seriously, and be able to discuss what is going on in confidence. However, we also believe that in many situations, some form of action is ultimately required to actually change the situation and help prevent recurrence.
That does not mean that we take over control from the person making the report. That always remains with the person making the report. However, we do expect an active and involved attitude from our confidential counsellors.
Together, you explore the available options and what a suitable next step might be. Sometimes, simply discussing and organizing a situation is sufficient. In other cases, a conversation with a colleague, supervisor, or other involved party can resolve many issues.
We are therefore looking for confidential counsellors who do not shy away from such a conversation. We view helping someone prepare for the conversation, instilling the confidence to actually take the step, and – when appropriate and desired – accompanying them to the meeting, as an important part of the profession.
Our starting point is: Listen where necessary, act where possible.
At Trustlr, we and our ZZP confidential counsellors work a little differently than other providers. Trustlr was founded on the belief that creating a safe working environment can be done smarter and better. Where current providers of confidential counsellors work more reactively and act as a band-aid on a wound, Trustlr tries to proactively, in collaboration with our customers, create a safe working environment.
We believe that unwanted behaviour can be prevented with the right training and education and we believe that some form of action is desirable in most cases of unwanted behaviour to prevent recurrence and to give the reporter the tools to resolve a similar situation themselves in the future.

Social safety broader than just the confidential counsellor for self-employed professionals
A confidential counsellor is an important part of a socially safe organisation, but not the only part.
Therefore, Trustlr supports organisations more broadly regarding social safety. With TrustNet, our online e-learning undesirable behaviour and education, we help employees and managers, for example, to recognize unwanted behaviour earlier, discuss it, and prevent it where possible.
In addition, we provide training, among other things, and organisations can turn to us for additional expertise in the field of social safety, such as investigation, policy development, mediation, and guidance for accused persons.
For affiliated self-employed confidential counsellors, this can also yield interesting additional assignments. For example, do you provide training, do you have experience with research or policy, are you a mediator, or do you support accused persons? If so, we would like to hear from you when you join us.

Working professionally with TrustConnect
Our affiliated confidential counsellors use TrustConnect to register and manage reports.
Via TrustConnect, reports can be registered and categorized in a secure and structured manner. This supports both the confidential counsellor in managing their own cases and Trustlr in preparing anonymized periodic reports for clients.
In this way, we combine personal and independent confidential work with a professional and consistent working method.
What do we ask of a confidential counsellor for self-employed professionals?
We work exclusively with LVV-registered confidential counsellors.
In addition, we value experience. Ideally, you have at least three years of work experience as a confidential counsellor and are accustomed to independently facilitating conversations and cases.
But we consider your view of the profession at least as important.
We are looking for confidential counsellors who:
- to be genuinely interested in people and be able to listen without judgment;
- believe in an active and solution-oriented approach to the profession;
- actively investigate together with the reporter what courses of action are available;
- not be hesitant to support a whistleblower in engaging in a difficult conversation;
- also be willing to be present at such a conversation when appropriate and desired;
- communicate professionally, independently and carefully;
- be easily accessible when they are linked to an organisation;
- want to be actively involved in Trustlr and the collaboration with other confidential counsellors;
- carefully maintain their registration and administration regarding reports.
The confidential counsellor never determines for the person making the report what needs to be done. The control remains with the person making the report. At the same time, we are looking for professionals who dare to ask probing questions, identify possibilities, and can help someone actually take the next step when necessary.
Which confidential counsellors for self-employed professionals are we looking for?
We are continuously interested in experienced external confidential counsellors in various regions of the Netherlands.
We find it particularly interesting if you speak other languages besides Dutch and English. At the moment, we are especially interested in confidential counsellors who speak one or more of the following languages:
- Spanish
- Polish
- Romanian
- Turks
- German
We would also like to hear about additional expertise. Think, for example, of experience as a trainer, researcher, policy advisor, mediator, or counselor for accused persons.
